What does your interior design service include?
This includes all interior finishes within the pool room, as well as any ancillary rooms such as changing rooms, home cinema, kitchenette and gymnasium. We will source all furnishings and feature lighting, as well as making up all curtains and cushions etc.
What about furniture?
We can propose a selection of contemporary and traditional pool furniture for comfort and relaxation by the pool. We can make up bespoke covers in suitable fabrics, chosen for their anti-fungal, anti-bacterial qualities. These can be sprayed so as to be moisture and stain resistant, to prevent problems such as clients sitting down with wet costumes.
What about ceilings?
Due to the size of many indoor pool rooms, we often recommend that a raised ceiling is specified to reflect the shape and size of the pool beneath. This raised ceiling can be vaulted or coved and can combine xenon lighting which will be reflected in the water below. We also have many examples of painted trompe l’oeil ceilings we can show clients.
Do you design changing rooms?
Over the years, changing rooms have become ever more demanding and often are more akin to a master bathroom, including stone and marble cladding of walls and ceilings, multi-jet showers, saunas and steam rooms.
Do you include adjacent rooms in your interior design service?
Past indoor pools have included highly specified gymnasiums, home cinemas, kitchenettes and family areas.
Why would I want to have pictures in my indoor pool?
Many indoor pools include extensive areas of walls, particularly behind the swimming pool, which will be enhanced by some form of decoration.
Surely pictures are not practical in the damp atmosphere?
The pool room atmosphere is carefully controlled and will be pleasantly dry and warm. Digital printing techniques enable clients to select a subject of their choice for printing onto suitable substrates for a pool environment.
What about murals?
Particular care has to be taken that the walls are suitable and expertise exercised in the correct selection of paints and materials.
How about sculpture?
Sculpture can be particularly effective for indoor or outdoor pools because they are 3- dimensional and look stunning reflected in the water.
Can you summarise what your art service includes?
The selection of art is personal and we will make the process enjoyable by visiting you in your home. We will formulate detailed proposals, liaising with the pool designer and lighting designer, and arrange installation.
